Whether you're an inveterate connoisseur or simply love your beer, Oktoberfest is the epitome of the celebration of the brewer's art. Originally held in 1810 in honor of the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig's marriage, the festivities began on October 12, 1810 and ended on October 17th with a horse race. Over the centuries, celebrations were eventually prolonged and moved forward to September. The exuberant, fun-filled carnival atmosphere of modern Oktoberfest is highly anticipated by locals and attracts guests from around the world.
