MaupinWaterways is a collection of the most luxurious, exotic and creative cruises available around the world!

Those who are seasoned voyagers will find a satisfying array of options available to pursue their cruise enthusiasms. Those who are seeking their first cruise experience, whether on a leisurely river or canal cruise vacation in Europe aboard a luxurious hotel barge or an in-grand-style trans-Atlantic crossing on a Cunard Line vessel (for example, the QEII), will find precisely what they are looking for on these pages-or we'll help you find it! (For your convenience, we've listed and explained the types of cruise vessels in the right-hand column.)

We're proud to note the all-inclusiveness of our waterways programs. All meals aboard ship are included--and these are gourmet extravaganzas prepared by onboard professional chefs. Wine is usually included with meals. Use of onboard facilities is included, as is all sightseeing outlined in the itinerary. One of the purest pleasures of cruise touring is that you unpack into your accommodations only once, and then can relax for the duration of your vacation, as the sights and experiences you seek unfold around you.

So what kind of cruises can you expect to find with MaupinWaterways?

You could take a paddleboat/steamer trip on the Mississippi. You could cruise on practically any of the world's seven seas on a variety of vessels and on virtually all of its seven oceans aboard a number of major ocean liners. You could sail on schooners in the Caribbean or yacht through the Mediterranean. You could cruise the Patagonian Fjords, the Scandinavian Fjords or the New Zealand Fjords-or voyage from South America to Antarctica on an amazing cruise of discovery!

If you are looking for more themed travels, you could take a wildlife-watching cruise in the Galapagos, go on a golfing cruise in Scotland, take wine/gourmet river cruises throughout Europe, or select from any number of historically-focused cruise departures. Other exciting options include participating in the Regatta in Venice in September or holiday cruises over Christmas and New Years to any number of marvelous destinations.

Exotic Cruises Smaller vessels capable of navigating along rivers and coastlines undertake these types of cruises. They are frequently exploration ships either converted to passenger-carrying vessels or may still be a working explorer. They tend to have either seasonal sailings or call on more unusual ports. They average between 50 and 150 passengers, and while they do offer all of the usual amenities, facilities onboard may not be as elaborate as on a smaller vessel. They usually offer a very casual experience for the passenger, and may include activities such as snorkeling, whale watching or scuba diving. International River Cruises A river cruiser is a small ship able to navigate larger rivers and inland lakes and carries as many as 200 passengers. A river cruiser is able to visit both small towns and large cities and can travel greater distances at a higher rate of speed than canal barges. They are generally modern, multi-level vessels, but do not often have elevators. They may or may not have television/telephones in guest cabins, but do offer many onboard amenities that include laundry service, hairdressers, and medical facilities. A cruiser may offer email access to its guests, but no Internet access. A river cruise can range from 4 to 14 days in duration. Domestic River Cruises Cruising the rivers of the United States will see you either aboard a vessel once used for exploration or aboard an antebellum era riverboat. These boats can be quite large, carrying up to approximately 400 passengers, and most likely do not have elevators. Facilities can be very elaborate or very simple, depending on the vessel. They may also feature live entertainment and educational speakers. Most offer televisions and telephones in guest cabins. Email access is generally available but not Internet access, again depending on the vessel. Cruises range between 3 and 10 days in duration
