The museum holds crown jewels and Master Paintings by Rubens, da Vinci, Raphael and Renoir. The Mona Lisa is here, as is the incomparable Nike of Samothrace. Drive down the Champs Elysees promenade from the Arc de Triomphe to the Place de la Concorde, where Marie Antoinette met her untimely end. Notre Dame Cathedral, the essence of Gothic architecture with its fanciful stonework and elegant flying buttresses, sits on an island in the Seine River, and Sacre Coeur Basilica is atop Montmartre hill. Tour the fashion district including avenue Montaigne and Avenue George V, with their numerous fashion shops. Luncheon is at a sidewalk cafe. This evening enjoy a bateaux cruise on the Seine River for wonderful views of the city of light. HOTEL SCRIBE
Day 4 - Versailles/Chartres Cathedral
On the outskirts of Paris, visit the Palace of Versailles, the opulent chateaux made the royal residence by King Louis XIV in the 17th century. See the imperial Hall of Mirrors, the Salon of Hercules and the intricate gardens dotted with fountains (one of the largest formal gardens of the world). Then visit Chartres Cathedral, the Gothic wonder rising from surrounding fields. The massive spires dominate the quaint medieval town that is clustered on the hillside below. The Cathedral is famous for its stained glass windows that glow like jewels and date from the early 13th century. Back in Paris, your evening is free. HOTEL SCRIBE
