Day 1 - Depart USA
Depart on your overnight flight to Poland's capital city, Warsaw.
Day 2 - Arrive Warsaw, Poland
Welcome to Poland, the country bordering seven other European nations and the Baltic Sea. The rest of the day is at leisure until tonight's welcome reception and dinner. RADISSON SAS CENTRUM HOTEL
Day 3 - Royal Castle, Warsaw
In Warsaw, drive the Royal route to see monuments and baroque churches. Visit the Royal Castle, seat of kings from the 17th century, and Knight's Hall. Chopin played his first concert at Radziwill Palace and the Warsaw Pact was signed here in 1955. Lunch is in Warsaw's Old Town and your afternoon is free. RADISSON SAS CENTRUM HOTEL
Day 4 - Black Madonna/Krakow
Quaint farms and villages dot the countryside en route to Jasna Gora Monastery. The Black Madonna is here, believed to have been painted by the disciple, Luke, and now Poland's holy icon. Stay three nights in Krakow, a fantasy of medieval Europe and a treasury of culture. Its Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. HOLIDAY INN KRAKOW CITY CENTER
Day 5 - Krakow/Wawel Castle
Sightsee Krakow's Old Town, including the huge Market Square. Delightful Wawel Castle (a Royal Castle) dates back 800 years and houses the famous Flanders tapestry collection. Tuesday afternoon join the excursion to the unique Wieliczka Salt Mine. Still a working mine, salt has been taken from its shafts for 700 years and spacious chambers, chapels and grottoes have also been carved out. Enjoy dinner out on the town! Day 6 - Krakow/Auschwitz
The day is free in Krakow and the craft shops are fun to browse, or you can explore the Jewish quarter, setting for the movie Schindler's List. If you wish, you can also participate in the excursion to visit Auschwitz-Birkenau, the infamous Nazi concentration camp. HOLIDAY INN KRAKOW CITY CENTER
Day 7 - Brno, Czech Republic
Cross to the Czech Republic, modest in size, but peppered with UNESCO World Heritage Sites and masterpieces, evidence of its formidable past. Visit Kromeriz, a medieval market town with a Renaissance chateau and charming Italian gardens. Overnight is in Brno, southern Moravia. Stay in the heart of town, at a charming hostelry welcoming travelers since 1596, the HOTEL ROYAL RICC.
Days 8 & 9 - Prague/Jewish Quarter
Silver was discovered near the town of Kutna Hora in the 13th century, making it the richest area in Bohemia. Its famous Gothic Cathedral is impressively unique. Then, at midday, arrive in Prague, pearl of the world's cities. Stroll through Josefov (Old Jewish Quarter) to visit the oldest synagogue in Europe and to see the fascinating cemetery. On Saturday, explore the city's medieval jewels: Charles Bridge stretching across the Vltava River, Wenceslas Square, Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. The Castle is a complex of basilicas, royal residences and fortifications. Your afternoon is at leisure and ancients lanes and byways beckon, marked by wrought iron signs and old street lamps.
