Day 1 - Begin San Francisco
Arrive in San Francisco, California's beautiful "City by the Bay" and make your way to your hotel, a waterfront boutique property in the heart of Fisherman's Wharf, with views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Meet your fellow travelers this evening at a special welcome dinner.
Day 2 - Tour the "City by the Bay"
Sightseeing through one of the world's most beautiful cities includes the Bay area, Presidio National Park, the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Victorian homes nicknamed the "painted ladies," Nob Hill, Coit Tower and Ghirardelli Square. Hop a trolley ride on the Hyde Street Cable Car Line. Walk Lombard, the "crookedest street," and enjoy the offerings of Pier 39 and Fisherman's Wharf.
Day 3 - Napa Valley Wine Train/The Nutcracker
Cross the Golden Gate Bridge for Napa Valley, the fertile, beautiful and most famous vineyard region of California, where wineries are liberally sprinkled among the rolling hills. Enjoy wine tasting and board the Napa Valley Wine Train for an elegant lunch and scenic ride, in the lavishly-restored 1915 Pullman dining car. Back in San Francisco this evening, attend a holiday classic performance of The Nutcracker.
Day 4 - Monterey and Carmel
You have an early start today, but you reap scenic rewards heading south along the rugged coast on Highway 1, with views of the Pacific Ocean waves, sandy beaches, rocky bluffs and seaside towns. In Monterey, see Fisherman's Wharf and historic Cannery Row, and visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where you can explore a kelp forest and undersea wonders. Minutes away are Pebble Beach and Carmel-by-the-Sea, with its legendary golf courses. Early in the evening return to the ARGONAUT HOTEL.
Day 5 - Muir Woods/Sausalito/San Francisco
This morning visit Muir Woods-"the best tree-lovers' monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world," according to conservationist John Muir. Stroll the national monument among giant coastal redwoods that are 2,000 years old and 250 feet high. Then drop in to explore the mediterranean-like village of Sausalito before returning to San Francisco for an afternoon free to wander Fisherman's Wharf or to see the sea life in the Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39. Early this evening, take a guided walking stroll in Chinatown, complete with Christmas Eve dining!
Day 6 - San Francisco dinner cruise
Merry Christmas! Sleep late if you wish or attend Christmas service. In the afternoon, head to Pier 33 and the Hornblower yacht for a Christmas Day Supper Cruise, complete with live entertainment, Santa Claus, a holiday buffet and great shipside views of the city skyline's TransAmerica Pyramid, Telegraph Hill and the lighted Golden Gate Bridge.
Day 7 - Conclude San Francisco
Too soon, it is time to return home, but you'll take some fine Californian Christmas memories with you.
